Education: B.S. Natural Science/Mathematics, University of Wyoming; M.A. Anthropology, University of Wyoming; Ph. D. Zoology, University of Wyoming; Postdoctoral Associate, National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS), University of California, Santa Barbara.

Courses taught: Limnology (Zool 415), Principles of Animal Biology (Zool 118), and Seminar in Innovative Statistical Techniques (Zool 585-703)

Areas of interest: Freshwater and marine biogeochemistry and aquatic ecology

I am interested in linking the biogeochemical effects of multiple human stressors with the structure and function of aquatic communities. Some aspects of aquatic systems that I study in the lab and field are:
  • Species, population and community level adaptations to dynamical changes in water geochemistry due to altered UV radiation, metal complexation, and varied flow regimes resulting from climate change.
  • Food web and detrital dynamics mediated by essential trace metals, fungal processing, and aquatic biogeochemistry across watersheds.
